About Adaire

Hello, and thank you for visiting White Guitar Music Therapy! Let me introduce myself: I am a home-grown, small town girl, born and raised in Warren, MN. A few of my favorite things include antiques, Minnesota Twins baseball, and finding unique ways to have fun with friends. I most certainly have an “old soul,” and one of my greatest joys comes from hearing stories and sharing music from the “good-old days.”

Adaire, Music Therapist

As a music therapist, I feel very privileged to take this joy and passion and share it every day with my clients. I received training with a wide variety of populations in Grand Forks through the University of North Dakota (UND), such as:

  • Altru Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit
  • Altru’s Cancer Center
  • Altru’s Psychiatric Unit with adolescents and adults
  • Altru’s Outpatient Pediatric Unit, in collaboration with their physical, occupational, and speech therapists
  • UND’s Toddler Language Circle Music Together Program
  • Kelly Elementary School, with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome
  • Red River High School Multiple Severely Mentally Handicapped Classroom with individuals with Developmental Delay, Seizure Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language Impairments, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Cortical Blindness, and Orthopedic Impairments
  • Ruth Meier Adolescent Treatment Facility, a residential facility for adolescents with behavioral and psychiatric diagnoses
  • Valley Eldercare Center, a Skilled Nursing Facility

After my experience with many different populations, I found that working with the elderly, especially those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, was my passion, so I chose to specialize in music therapy with the elderly and end-of life care.
After graduating summa cum laude from UND in 2012, I spent a year working as a music therapist with Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Milwaukee, WI, gaining experience with patients with:

  • Alzheimer’s
  • Dementia
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD)
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
  • Adult Failure to Thrive
  • Cancer

I loved my patients and families, but there was a problem brewing in the back of my mind: The discipline of music therapy is commonly known and utilized in large cities, with nursing homes, hospitals, and hospices, but those in rural areas oftentimes do not have the opportunity to reap the benefits of music therapy. I wanted to solve this problem, so I moved back to Northwestern MN, to bring music therapy to the people I grew up with, neighbors and friends in the Red River Valley. White Guitar Music Therapy is a dream come true for me, and I am excited to continue to expand our area’s knowledge and utilization of music therapy, and to serve those in need, enhancing lives through music.
